Rentals at BratBike
We
rent bikes for day tripping around the Brattleboro area of southeastern
Vermont. If you're staying in the area, or just got off the train
(Amtrak's Vermonter), you can rent
one of our "dirt road tourers" to see our beautiful region
on two wheels. There are some rules:
- We
rent hybrids. These are 21-speeds with 38-42mm tires on either
700c or 26" wheels. They are just the thing for exploring
on dirt or paved roads in and around Brattleboro. We don't rent
trail bikes (try the ski areas) and we don't rent road bikes,
for which there are so many fit and pedal compatibility issues.
- We
require a credit card imprint for a security deposit. We accept
VISA and MasterCard. No charges are made to your account until
you pick up the rental at Brattleboro Bicycle Shop. In the event
of damage to our equipment, we reserve the right to bill the repair
or replacement charges (as determined by us) to your credit card
account.
- We
charge $25/day, $125/7 days, morning to morning or afternoon to
afternoon. There is no half day rate.
- The
bikes have one bottle cage. We do not rent panniers, racks, or
other touring equipment, and we don't rent car racks.
- Pedals:
you can choose either plain, old, flat pedals or toe clips and
straps. People sometimes bring their own click-in pedals and we
install them on the rental bike.
- Excellent
county maps are available for free from the Brattleboro Area Chamber
of Commerce office right across the street from us. We can mark
one of these with suggested routes for you, if you like.
- We
do not provide road service. The bikes are checked out before
and after each rental, so we are sure the brakes, gears, and wheels
are properly adjusted and lubricated...but things happen! Make
plans for what you'll do if you get a flat.
- We
have a small rental fleet, so it's best to plan ahead.
