GARY
FISHER
Piranha $930
Real trail bike ride.
|
|
Notable
features at this price
|
The
same frame geometry and ride balance as the top of the
line trail racing bikes. The Fisher Genesis ride
is more stable downhill and gives more traction uphill
than other designs. The more even spoke tensions made
possible by the rear Bontrager Asym rim result
in a stronger wheel that stays true longer.

Why
we like this bike
|
Genesis
ride, looks nicer than a black Wahoo. This represents
the real value for your trail dollar from Fishervalue-priced
versions of all the top technologies for trail work
(balance, frame design, suspension, brakes).
|
|
Who
is this bike for?
|
The
active outdoors person who knows s/he needs quality
equipment but wants it on a tight budget. Of the other
nice hardtails in the Fisher line, the Tassajara for
$150 more gets you a lighter fork and a different flavor
(but similar performance) of shifting. The $1300
Hoo Koo e Koo is a real upgrade in every way and
is really the kind of ride a Vermont trails enthusiast
should have, but if you want to keep it under $1000,
buy a Piranha.
